Hyperhydrosis Treatment

Hyperhydrosis is something better known as excessive sweating and is a common problem. Sweating is controlled by a portion of our nervous system in the pores of our skin and in approximately 1% of the population there is an excessive control and excessive sweating, Hyperhydrosis, occurs. The locations of Hyperhydrosis include the feet, hands, armpits, main body trunk and the face.

For sweaty hands and feet, the video below shows you how to make a device that produces the same effect you get when you visit a doctor, minus the cost of treatment (about $30 – $80) each. The Dermatologists also sell devices like this for around $800 – $1,000.

Thanks to Dr. Bowling at shannonbowling.com for sharing this cost effective solution!

The primary occurrence of Hyperhydrosis starts in childhood or adolescence and continues throughout life. There has been discussion that psychiatric conditions can promote the occurrence of Hyperhydrosis but this is very rare and it is more probable that it is the condition that causes the conditions to be induced in the person. Causes of Hyperhydrosis can include Hyperthyroidism or as part of similar endocrine diseases, Endocrine treatment for prostatic cancer or other types of malignant disease, severe psychiatric disorders, Obesity and Menopause. This is known as secondary Hyperhydrosis.

Many individuals suffer from Hyperhydrosis in many areas of the body. Sweating can appear suddenly or manifest itself more continuously and can be elicited by high outside temperatures or emotional stress, or appears without any obvious reason. Generally, it worsens during the warm season and gets better during winter similar to common sweating amongst people. Arguably the most embarrassing location for Hyperhydrosis is in the palms of the hands which are also very socially disturbing. However problems such has halos of salt in the cloth recently in the armpit region is also extremely embarrassing. Hyperhydrosis in the face can be the most aggravating of the areas subject to Hyperhydrosis as citizens may judge the person to be of a nervous or unstable condition.

Treatment of Hyperhydrosis is varied. The most obvious is the use of antiperspirants which are a common solution to excessive sweat amongst people without the condition of Hyperhydrosis. Iontophoresis can be tried if antiperspirants have not lead to the desired result. This method consists in applying an electric current to the palms or soles immersed in an electrolyte solution. The procedure has to be repeated regularly with several sessions a week then decreasing as treatment continues to one session every 1 or 2 weeks. There are no specific drugs that could be used for the condition of Hyperhydrosis but psychotropic drugs have showed to decrease the effects of Hyperhydrosis. However, this usually takes a long time to occur and the side affects are extensive and occur far before any results can be seen.

Psychological help can only help the person to the live with the condition and merely to aid those who are troubled by the condition. Alternative medicine has almost no effect from experiences such as acupuncture or massages. The use of botulinum however has shown some significant progression in combating the condition of Hyperhydrosis. Initial reports have been published regarding the use of botulinum toxin in Hyperhydrosis. Some drawbacks are the costs of this treatment which has to be repeated at regular intervals and the side-effects but these appear to be negligible.

Hyperhydrosis is a common misspelling for hyperhidrosis

My palms drip all the time. Droplets of sweat literally form on the top of my fingers. But life goes on. I try to cope with it. And I love myself. That’s all that matters really. Love yourself no matter what you are facing. Cos you know you’re never alone in this. There’s always someone out there facing the same thing you are right now, this very second.

    Hi all,

So glad that I chanced upon a forum like this and to experience that …’you are not alone!!’ feeling (excuse me for brevity). I have been suffering from severe HH since childhood and I am a R&OR of India. Interestingly my sweating goes mad during the winters. Sweat literally drips from palms and no! I am not a nervous person at all.

Twice in 7 years, I have turned down offers for supervisory position because of this….. 33 and foolishly hoped that it would subside over time!! Such is life.

Can something, someone, somewhere, cure my palms at least.

God Bless and Good luck to All.

Hmm I’m a little worried about the “do it yourself” thing, but if it’ll get rid of this sweet. How do I get rid of the facial sweating? Stick my head in the pan? (kidding :D ) But yea my brothers have decided to call me the floodgates cause I can literally make my hands drip…so good to know there are others and that there are possible cures, thanks!

I have had hyperhydrosis for about almost 4 yrs now. It started at 48 yrs old and has gotten worse and worse, I’m 51 now. I have been to the doctor about it and she says it male menopause, but I do not believe her. My case is EXTREME! I go through up to 12 shirts, 4 to 6 pair of pants, 8 to 12 pair of underwear and a dozen or more pair of socks per day. I drag face cloths and towels with me everywhere I go which is nowhere now a days. I have fans in every room and have to have 2 of them on me at night time while trying to sleep. I have gained close to 100 lbs because I don’t do anything or exercise any more because I am on Community Assistance and I can’t keep up to the laundry. I am embarrassed everywhere I go, which is …..well, only to Church now and that’s because I am the drummer in the Worship Group Band or I likely would not go there either. I have been told the only thing that will work is Testosterone or Botox and I don’t have the money for either. So, I know how you all feel and all I ask for is that you pray for me and I will pray for you. I understand completely.
    Thanks and GOD Bless.

i also have HH. it started after my chemo therapy, my armpit sweat a lot and it’s dripping. what i do is… i’m using menstrual pad! yes! crazy but it works! i have to wear an undershirt coz its where i put the pad and wear my shirt of the day. i’m doing this for almost 5 years now. but i wish i could find a cure for this! if not, i have no reason to be upset coz there’s always an alternative. let your mind work! :)

I also am a victim of Hyperhidrosis and having this really hurts you socially. It got to the point that I get VERY self-conscious about this whenever I meet someone and they want to shake my hand I usually pull back or say “i don’t do hand shakes, i do hugs!” which is weird BUT it’s helped me avoid some handshakes, SOME. Some people shake my hand and of course go onto their usual “EHWW WHY ARE YOUR HANDS ALL WET.” I usually try to cover it by saying that I just washed my hands or something but I can’t always cover. :/

I’ve had hyperhidrosis since 3rd grade and i HATE it. i wish it would be gone already I have been through the BOTOX injections (didn’t work for me after having them done 7 times!!). My sweating is OUT OF CONTROL its annoying, disturbing, & embarrassing. I will be trying out this treatment next because I’m really tired of SWEATING. I’m 20 years old, and I have been putting up with this for so long that I TRY my best to ignore it and it used to bug me but then I just kept ignoring the fact that i sweat so much until recently when some guy tried to shake my hand I refused…and then another guy tried and again i tried to avoid it….and it was on the third person’s attempt to shake my hand that another guy pointed out TO EVERYONE that I “was weird for not shaking people’s hands” then in the end he told EVERYONE that I’m a germaphobic (however you spell that) and this really……upset me to have everyone laugh at me saying I don’t want to touch people for that reason. :/

I’m just glad to know that I am not the only one that has to live with this condition day after day. If you have any treatments that have worked or ANYTHING please let me know!

    Thanks.

Hey guys.. How are your researches regarding the treatments? I’m also suffering from HH since high school.. Im a 21 now and I just finished my college, I should have been a performer during my school days but because of this I usually just hide behind the shadows, I don’t like to be noticed..

So I was not able to perform well, I also took up education.. But did not pursue it coz I know how hard it would be to teach and get sweaty all the time, so instead I had a career change, I’m now in the BPO industry where I get to be in a cold place all the time and I have to work in evening..

This is not life though, but we cant just lost hope, there are others who are suffering worst than we are, who cant even go out.. lucky for us we can still find someone who’ll accept us right? Cheer up guys.. It may not as easy as it may seem, but its not the end of the world.. :)

Hey all,I have had the HH condition since I was 4-5 years. It has negatively affected my social life,my classes and church.I learn about the surgery but the chances of the cure is 50-50.Am worried because as much as I try to get the right information on HH cure a dark cloud seems to be engulfing my way. Some body with info, kindly share,we are out there suffering………kenya…….

  11. riya55 says:

hi everyone!!! I’m an HH sufferer myself, 22 yrs old. I’ve been constantly gathering information on how to control this “horrible” condition..

    1. 1.I’ve tried IONTOPHORESIS .,its seems to work for me ,but the results are temporary.i cud go without sweating for one month.,but u need to continue doing it..i needed only 6-7 sittings, each costing rs.100.
    2. my doctor also tried giving medications to calm my mind and reduce my stress but that doesn’t work for me
    3. also i’ve heard that imbalance between sodium, potassium and water can cause HH and low BP..i’m stil gathering information about that..

i hav HH in my palm and feet..i also have extremely dry lips and throat and low BP..

The most important thing u must remember is to “RELAX” and take steps to relieve stress in your own way..because HH is condition related with sympathetic nervous system.i practice yoga and try keeping calm always..and away from heat..also try to wear light colored cloths to cover sweat patches..I’m still continuing my study and hope someday i would com to know about a cure..hope this helps you..<3

4got to mention about Botox injections..heard they are extremely painful and costly, but effective for some..also the ETS surgery..but there is only 50-50 chance and the side effects are that u sweat in other body parts..also antiperspirants like drysol are effective for”some”..i have not tried any of the above..n prefer natural methods myself..IONTOPHORESIS machine is where u soak ur hands and feet in water slightly charged, and don’t worry you wont get any shock or anything..surely this treatment is in my “hit list” so far..have faith in GOD!!if there is a will there would be a way..

    hope this helps..<3

I’m also suffering from this condition. i’m in 8th grade, and i have it terrribly in my armpits, hands, and feet. i noticed that it was awful this past winter.. i’m not excited to see how it is in the summer. i have a boyfriend, and im nervous of holding his hand, and what he might think. my mom doesn’t understand how upset i am over this, and she thinks i’ll be fine. its embarrassing and hard to deal with. sometimes i get so fed up with it, i just cry. regular deorderant does nothing for me. i have to used anti-perspirants with aluminum in them, and even that only decreases it. but it’s still horrible. please let me now of any other treatments.

  18. Anoyomus says:

Hi, I am also a candidate of this disorder, and I am in highschool which makes it even worse. I sweat everywhere including palms, feet, armpits, forehead occasionally. I do not think my friends are aware of it, although I feel really awkward and try to wipe under my arms, or wipe my hands on my jeans, but when I shake hands, which I am sure we all dread, I feel really weird and I hate it. I really just want to get rid of it. No one understands, and it makes me feel a little lonely because of that. My family all say that they have had some form of it and it just goes away. In my case, I do not feel that they really have had it as bad as I do right now. Honestly, I do not know how much more of this I can take. I cry everytime I am reminded of how I can not do certain things like hold hands, like with someone I love, or friends. Please let me know if there are ANY possible cures or treatments that are worth trying.

I feel for everyone, especially since I am going through the same thing.

  19. Edison says:

hello, I’ve been suffering from this disorder too. and it’s quite irritating actually. i mean, i have been like this for as far as i can remember, and now that I’ve grown up, it is hard because i do numerous things that i have not been doing when i was kid. people don’t get the feeling, yes it’s not harmful, but it forces me to give effort to take care of my hands and feet. especially in school.

I could not go to school without a handkerchief, it’s so hard to focus in class when you are constantly gripping something to take the sweat off your hands. especially in my drawing subjects, i am an architecture student, and when it’s studio time, i always mess up my work due to excessive sweating. so much excess to be exact. i just wanted to know if there is an easy treatment out there that i can do. because now is the perfect time, I’m on my summer break, and it should be good when classes resume. thank you in advance for the help!

    Hi everyone

I’m from Lincoln in the UK and I’ve suffered with hyperhydrosis since I can remember affecting my hands, feet and armpits also it at times affects my whole body, when I really get myself worked up and conscious about, and it is particularly bad in the summer. I also crave a lot of salt most of the time, I’m presuming this is because of the fluid loss and my body wants salt to draw the fluid to replace the loss. However initially as a teenager I used the roll on’s to stop armpit sweating and that was ok every now and again but it really stung and hurt a lot and was only a short term fix and sometimes the stinging would become unbearable and I would just wash it off!

However I am now a trained nurse and when I was a student nurse I felt that i couldn’t do my job properly as a staff nurse with this condition. So I bit the bullet and despite the risks I had surgery to stop my hands from sweating as there are no long term treatment for feet and axillar sweating, and I did this just over 3 years ago before I qualified and I haven’t looked backed since my hands just get clammy every now and again but never drip YEY! However my feet and armpits still sweat but i find that it is bearable and I can live with this as I can do my job well!

I would recommend the surgery but I am aware that I am lucky and there aren’t many success stories however I was at my wits end!

    Hope this helps
    Gem

I just kind of stumbled upon this site looking for cures, but it is really great just to know that you’re not going through this alone. It’s heartbreaking to hear people say that they are thinking about killing themselves or even things more minuscule such as not attending a birthday party. …especially when I’ve once gone through these same issues. Does anyone know of any Hyperhidrosis talk groups? I feel that people would really benefit from this…

I really hate it. This condition i feel worsened my teen years because of the fact that i moved twice as a child losing friends and making new ones. HH really has affected how outgoing i couldve been around new people instead of worried that if i tried to be id just be a wet shirt with dripping face

My heart goes out to you all as I am 60 and have had hyperhydrosis since adolescence. I did have the under arm sweat gland surgery years ago which helped What helped me most was a medication that has since been taken off the market…Now I have tried Rubinol but it is not the same. what I have noticed is that my sweating is tied to stress. when i am in my house and calm I am dry but if get into anything with the slightest stress or difficult human interaction I am a sweating mess. I am an expert dresser to camouflage this (black mostly)and dread summer. Give me cold weather anytime. I get that this can be so severe that you miss out on living because the embarrassment can be so great. I think I will sleuth the earth forever for a solution. I would just love to know – for just one day – what it feels like to be dry. It must be heaven.

  34. Hate_ETS says:

Besides trying the Hushed Sea Herbal Tea, you may also try the following to combat hyperhidrosis – not sure how effective is it for post-ETS :

    • Sage tea is an all-natural antiperspirant that takes about two hours to start working and can last for days.
    • Tea tree oil contains antiseptic and deodorizing properties and is applied to parts of the body the sweat profusely. Caution should be used due to reports that it may cause dermatitis and never drink it, it can be toxic.
    • The Burdock herb helps the body get rid of sweat by pushing it through the bowel and kidneys. For some it may reduce or even stop sweating!
    • The Astragalus herb is known to balance the body’s sweat functions and is said to work great for night sweats.
    • Also consider peppermint, lemon balm and fennel mixed together into a tea and taken before bed has been said to relieve perspiration due brought on by anxiety.

  36. Maxine says:

I have suffered from HH for some years now since I was in elementary school. And while I have tried a variety of treatments, I have learned to live with it. Sure it can be embarassing but I find that when I forewarn people, who want to shake my hand, that it is sweaty, no one seems grossed out by it. If people do inquire about it, I explain the situtation and people don’t seem to mind it. The man I am with now could care less and likes holding my hand. It is a very big relief to have found someone who likes me for me. And don’t let this interfere with your confidence since you all are beautiful people.

  42. Philip Kulp says:

Hi. I have severe facial and scalp hyperhydrosis and the earliest nickname I can remember is “sweathead”.

I’ve read a lot of the messages here and definitely connect with many of the experiences shared. Interestingly, while serving in the military in both Alaska and North Dakota, I would perspire after eating spicy food, even at -20 F! Mostly though, I react almost instaneously to high heat and humidity with a fountain of perspiration that may soak me completey from head to foot.

Not a problem when exercising, working in the yard, etc. but social events are completely off limits. I’m fifty now, and have missed out on ALOT of fun.

I’ve read a lot of material, wouldn’t consider surgery at all but have tried homeopathic remedies (the recommended remedy didn’t work at all), acupuncture (which I totally believe in and use regularly – but seemed to backfire in regards to hyperhydrosis) and in an effort to try and correct the acupuncture effects tried the Steeping Herbal “Hushed Sea” Tea.

It works for me. I can’t believe it. I’ve only used it a week or so, and seem to need to drink a cup in the morning and another in early evening to make optimize its affect.

I haven’t fully explored how far this tea can take me, I’ve placed a lot of limits on myself and have many habits that are ingrained from about five or six years of age. But I can tell you, summer hibernation in my basement is on the way out.

I still perspire, but seemingly in a much more “normal” manner which is exactly what I want.

    Will keep you posted!

Whoa!! was i glad i chance upon this page and found out that a lot of Filipinos are suffering from hyperhidrosis.. i am 24 now, and my hyperhidrosis has gotten worse.. can anyone enlighten me about this HH thing? i’m using driclor now but it doesn’t seem to be working… help me please…

  49. Angela says:

I have had hyperhidrosis my whole life. I spent a lot of time depressed sheltering myself from public exposure. I could have filled up a gallon jug with all the sweat from one day. When I was 30 I had a T2 sympathectomy (which worked for palms). When I woke up I had nerve damage in my left hand and arm I had no feeling or movement for 4 months.

With extensive physical therapy I regained full use. I suffered ptsd. and swore off all surgery. As time went by I got better and am now searching relief for hyperhidrosis of the feet, groin, and abdomen. Summer is approaching and I am desperate for help and I am willing to take extreme measures to make this go away. It constantly looks like I have peed my pants.

Good Day. I’m from Philippines. At my young age, I suffer Axillary Hyperhydrosis (armpit) I am only 14 years old and yet I have this disorder. I should think and ask for treatments about this problem. It’s really embarrassing at my part because it is one of the reasons why I do not socialize to other people because of the feeling of embarrassment. I keep on wearing white and black shirts for the people not to see my sweat armpits.. But I need to do treatments to stop this intensive sweating. I also keep on searching treatments about it but they’re expensive and painful.

Anyone can help me about this problem?. I really need your help. Please…

  51. NC says:

Hi everyone! I’ve been suffering from HH ever since childhood. I had really tough time playing certain sports or holding hands because of sweaty palms. I’m looking for jobs right now and I’m really nervous about my hands getting all sweaty on the interview day. Even the thought of shaking hands with the interviewer is scaring me. I’ve never used anything before but I’m planning on trying the antiperspirants. If I come across any promising remedy, hopefully a non-surgical and non-prescriptive one I will definitely let you guys know. Hang in there guys!

  52. Noel says:

Hi., im noel 22 from philippines.. have also a problem with this hyperhidrosis.. i try driclor and its work for me. in just 3 days. you can buy it at any mercury drug store.

  53. Marsha says:

I started on generic Wellbutrin or Bupropion (150mg) for three months and went off due to excessive sweating from the waist up. Before this drug, I RARELY sweated, even in hot weather or when working out hard. Now, walking around in 40 degree weather leaves my sweaty. I’ve been off this horrible medication for a year and the sweating seems to be permanent. Has anyone else heard about this? Help.

  57. Fabiana says:

I started using HYPERCARE two days ago and it works!!!

I had HORRIBLE hands…I could not high-five anyone or hand shakes and even writing papers was kind of messy…partner dancing especially was a night mare. I started using this product and while it takes a few days for the hands to be completely dry (my fingertips still need a few more days) the wait is sooo worth it.

    I FOUND A CURE FOR MY HANDS!!…
this is a prescription liquid and it can be used for hands, feet, armpits…whatever you want! For hands I need to apply the liquid with a cotton ball and wrap my hands in plastic (the non-latex plastic gloves are the best thing) and then put my hands in mittens. Yea it feels weird and they sweat A LOT at night on the first day…it starts to decrease though. On the next day my hands stay dry for the entire day! It’s amazing!

Just thought you guys should know about this product that really…changed my life. :D

Note: Generic name for hypercare deodorant is aluminum chloride hexahydrate, found in Certain Dri Antiperspirant Roll-On (about $7), Extra strong Maxim Antiperspriant (about $14) and Drysol Extra Strength Roll-On for ($18).

  58. Natasha says:

I am a 30 yr old mother of 2. I was diagnosed with auxillary hyperhidrosis when I was 12. I was constantly teased in school and embarrassed. As I have gotten older I have learned to accept my condition, although some days are still difficult. The worst part is trying to get people to understand that you can’t just turn it OFF! It is like a leaky water faucet!!!!!!!

I have been using drysol for more than 8 years and it does not work for me! However botox does, but this poses some health risk no matter what doctors tell you. It is expensive also, but from what I hear, insurance may now cover it. Most of all, maintain a positive attitude and educate everyone you can about this disorder; the more time we invest in education, the more recognition, maybe 1 day a CURE!

  59. seth says:

hi guys… I’m Seth from Philippines.. Ive been experiencing this nightmare since childhood.. I have a severe palmar and plantar hyperhidrosis.. I can say that it totally affected my whole life… I’ve tried a lot of things just to find any solution for my problem because I’m so upset about it..

I cant enjoy my life fully cause of this hindrance… I cant go along with my daily activities without worrying about it.. it caused me a lot of uneasiness especially if i’m with other people.. so afraid that they might discover it, making a bad impression on me… please help me.. so afraid to try any surgery or take some drugs for it might have some adverse effects… But,, does Robinul really work?!?! Does it have any side effects?!?

I felt somewhat relieved upon reading your comments.. Its nice to know that there are others who really understand what I’m dealing with right now!!

well,, for my “kababayans” (others in my shoes),, id also like to hear your own stories,, if you’re looking for someone to talk to, I’m just here, because i think i’m also needing one…

We can share first hand experiences about this,, or maybe,, we can also figure out of something to combat this,,, uhhhm,, anyone interested??!

  60. Ja says:

I’ve had HH since childhood. I suffered a lot, like most cases here, most especially when I started working. I had it worst when I had to use my fingerprints in the biometric system and it wouldn’t work on me because my hands are super sweaty, makes me all the more nervous.

I’ve tried driclor before but I stopped because it doesn’t seem to be working on me or maybe I am not doing it right. I don’t know. I am 23 now and I just want to get rid of this as soon as possible.

I am from the Philippines, by the way, so if anyone here is from the same country, please let me know. Like, if you know a good doctor who can give the right prescription and advice. I cannot afford expensive surgeries like botox so I’d rather resort to cheap and less painful options.

    ANYONE HELP ME, PLEASE

Thanks a lot. I would really appreciate it ^^

Hi, I’m Marvin from the Philippines and also suffer from HH, please, does anyone know of a treatment that I can do naturally? I can not afford to visit a regular doctor.

  64. Stephanie says:

I have been looking into treatment of HH because I am so tired of my sweaty feet and hands. I found a doctor in San Antonio, TX who claims he is a HH national expert and has developed outpatient surgical procedures for this. You can find him on the internet and I just wanted to share this info with you. His credentials look impressive but I have not yet met with him but will do soon; when I do, I’ll let you know how it turned out.

    Hi,

I suffer from plantar hyperhidrosis on the feet, what’s worse it gives a bad odor smell, even if i wear boots it comes out it smells like I passed gas; I have low self esteem and confidence because of this. I tried driclor, iontherpheresis, botox, washing my feet with detol, nothing works, can anyone suggest something else as I have no life I’m only 18. I didn’t go to a university because of PH as throughout my school life and college life I’ve been bullied because of the smell.

As for the surgery, the doctor wont do it as he said that it would not work!

Hi, I’m from the Philippines, and I also have severe Facial Hyperhidrosis. Just like anybody else who has this condition i experienced excessive sweating in my entire head up to my chest area. and i often times get soak when this happens.

My hair gets soaked in sweat that i looked like i had taken a shower. I know a lot of us sufferers of this condition also has emotional, psychological and sociological problems. I sometimes don’t wanna go out in the crowd just because I’m afraid that I might sweat out too much and this really embarrass me a lot. I feel like i wanna be alone a lot of times.

This condition has changed my lifestyle, attitude and perspective in life. just sharing my problems with you sufferers of hyperhidrosis.

I’m in high school, and I sweat a lot. Especially my arm pits, hands and feet. I’m always so nervous about someone finding out and making a big deal that it gets worse! I’ve tried Drysol, and I hated it. It causes rashes on my skin and I still sweat through it. I want to try some kind of medication that has few adverse affects. Any suggestions?

  69. Carl says:

I have HH head to toe. By far, the most embarrassing portion of my body affected is the “ass sweat”. My condition is ridiculously severe and I had surgery in Beverly Hills about 5 years ago, but it was marginally successful (and only targeted armpits). Prescription deodorant does not have any effect on me besides causing painful rashes. I’m 24 and I am who I am, if someone does not like me b/c I sweat too much then screw them. Life is too short to be controlled by this condition and I have too many goals I am trying to achieve. Good luck to all and hang in there, there are more of us than you think.

  70. Sabrina says:

Like some of you I haven’t been officially diagnosed w/ HH but I know I have it? because of the profuse sweating I go through!!! From the head, trunk, facial and thighs it’s driving me Crazy!!!!! I’m very interested in the salt theory one of you mentioned here earlier as I myself am a SALT FREAK! I put salt on almost everything as well. But I seem to crave it desperately and I don’t know why??? Any responses would be greatly appreciated!.

I really need help. I come from the Philippines specifically in Mindanao. I have severe palmar and plantar hyperhydosis. I’m already a teacher but I’m not feeling good. I do not want surgery I want to fine an easy way to cure this, but how? God I always hope everyday that I can fine answer to this problem. It seems a curse on my part to live because of this. Who can help me? I need it so badly!

  74. J. P Serr says:

I have a really , really bad problem with excessive sweating, especially from the head! My hands and feet are also affected, but not as bad as my head. (trust me it is still severe) Every time I do something I just get soaked and wet from the excessive sweating.

For example, the other day I had to change the car battery from my truck. My son and wife were with me, standing and helping in with what they could. The task involved was to remove a total of 4; 10mm nuts from the terminal post clamps and holding straps. Lift the battery out and replace it with the new one. Well let me tell you something. That task also involved a full change of clothes due to the drenching that I had accumulated on the clothing I was wearing. I had to change my shirt, socks and sneakers.

The sweat was dripping from the surgical type gloves I was wearing to prevent my hands from getting greasy.

PLEASE does anyone have a suggestion????? I need help its been too many years with this embarrassing issue.

  75. jayne says:

hi people…if anyone is from the Philippines please leave a comment so we can talk w/ each other and start communicating. I’m 22, female and i have palmar and plantar hyperhidrosis. I just need to talk to someone who has my condition too…thanks!

  77. Monique says:

I too have HH- hands, feet, armpits. I also take Robinul 2mg- I try not to take it everyday, but alternate days or take it if I have somewhere special to go. I think the medication is actually for ulcers and this is a side effect.

  78. Diane DiNorscia says:

I have been sweating for years– I am currently 49 years old. I am just known as the terrible “sweating machine”. I waitress part time and it is so embarrassing because — especially in the summer and when we are busy — my face is dripping, the cotton lime green shirt is soaked, and my hair is also soaked — just as if I was caught out in the rain.

I have noticed that it is getting worse — not sure if it is because I am getting closer to the menopausal years. I would love to know if there is any help for this. It is not just the underarms — it my total body.

  79. Max says:

I have always had sweaty palms, but my hyperhidrosis worsened significantly when I turned 20. It’s not as severe as some of these other cases seem to be, but it is still very embarrassing!

I cannot wear khaki pants for fear that i will sweat through them. this is actually where i sweat the most and especially problematic given the fact that my job requires a very strict dress code. i use drysol, but it is only effective for my underarms. Does anyone have any advice?

  80. edrian says:

Hello, I’m Edrian and I’ve been suffering from hyperhidrosis for a while now; I’m 17 years old and from the Philippines.

Does anyone know if an easy way to cure this sweating nightmare ????

  81. lori says:

Do you know why everytime I have to go out I do my makeup and when i’m outside or inside at what ever the event my face starts sweating like crazy and my makeup get so bad?

Why do you think this happens and what can I do?

  82. Karen says:

I have had severe HH since I was born. I went to doctors about it and they tried a bunch of different things. I hated DRYSOL. I hated the electro…something-or-other treatment they put me through where I put my hands/feet in a tub of water and had to do that for 20 minutes, etc. a day – which is about 45 minutes of my time a day that I can’t get back, not to mention I can’t exactly multi-task while doing this. Nothing seemed to work. I wanted surgery, but was afraid it would affect muscles I used for piano and photography.

I DID FIND SOMETHING THAT HELPS! :) The name of it is Robinul. I take it every day and it works WONDERS! Seriously – the only side effect is that if I take too much of it, my mouth gets extremely dry, but eventually, you find the right dose, and I haven’t had ANY excessive sweating AT ALL since I started taking it over 6 years ago. The only time I do sweat excessively is if I run out of my prescription and have not taken it for a few days. So…it is a forever treatment, but beyond that, it works GREAT!

    Hope this helps!

    Karen

NOTE: Robinul is Glycopyrrolate, Wikipedia has this warning:

Glycopyrrolate reduces the ability of the body to sweat and in hot environments can cause fever and heat stroke. Many people taking Roubinul (Glycopyrrolate) may experience difficulty urinating, dry mouth, headaches, diarrhea and constipation.

The medication can make you drowsy and blur your vision. Drinking alcohol only makes it worse!

  83. Shernice T says:

Hi I’m a student from the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago. I’m 16 and like Patty I’ve never been officially diagnosed with HH but I know I have it. I suffer with palmar, plantar and axillary HH. However, my major concern is the palmar HH.

It’s so embarrassing shaking hands with someone and because I know have to, I try not to think about it but in doing so, my sweating only increases! I have palmar HH so bad that anytime I’m writing in school I have to write with a rag over my page to prevent my entire page from becoming soaked in sweat and ripping!

My plantar HH is also equally bad resulting in me LITERALLY sliding across the floor and leaving huge puddles of sweat on the floor during my karate practice (which I have to do bare footed!). It’s so embarrassing when we have to do pair work in karate class because no one like to hold my feet for stretching exercises and I feel like sinking into the ground!

    HELP!!! *sobbing*

I am from jamaica, I’m at college now and i dont know if i’m gonna survive because of this condition. i sweat everywhere all the time, i need help PLEASE.

If anyone can help me please write back.

  85. Donnie says:

By the way …for others looking for treatment:
DRYSOL is a roll-on / dabber. Ask your doctor about it.

  86. Donnie says:

Thanks for the info Jim. I have dry sage sprigs for smugging, I’m gonna try that tea bath tonight.

I’ve used DRYSOL (prescription), with minor side effects, but would like a more natural treatment.

  87. Jim says:

    Hi Patty,

Catch 22, too much salt and you have a problem, but excessive sweating depletes your supply plus potassium and citrates. A mixture of 1/4 teaspoon seasalt, juice from half a lime, tablespoon of tomato paste in a glass of water is said to do the trick.

Have you ever tried a sage tea treatment? It’s all natural and many claim it works for them.

Fill a large mixing bowl, warm water and sage tea bags (you can get these at your local grocery store) and let stand until the tea begins to dissolve. Once it’s ready, place your hands in the mixture for 10 to 20 minutes. This should be performed daily for about a week. Make sure to wash hands with soap when the process is completed.

The mixture is said to cause contraction of body tissues and canals to help with excessive sweating. Note: before you try anything, consult with your doctor first.

  88. Patty says:

Although I have never been officially diagnosed, I have had HH since childhood.

I suffer from auxillary, palmer, and foot sweating. Auxillary is the biggest problem at work. The wet places under my arms can actually meet in the middle of my chest and look like a vest on my work shirts. It is awful, and may cause me to quit my job from embarrassment.

    I have a question –

I have what I consider an extreme desire to put salt on almost everything I eat, including toast! My question is – do I need more salt because of HH? or am I aggravating the HH because of my salt intake?

    Thank you for your time,
    Patty
